Vacation Recap, Day 2

Friday, July 13: We got up bright and early to get on the road for Virginia Beach, about a three-hour trip. It was a pretty drive; there are a lot more trees along the highways in VA compared to ND! We saw some of the huge ships as we passed by the Norfolk Naval Station. We got to the beach in the late morning and it was a perfect day to be there, not too hot, but warm enough to feel like a day at the beach! The sand was very soft and it was so relaxing to listen to the sound of the waves. Ahhh….     We even saw a few dolphins not too far out in the water.

On our way back to D.C., we stopped in Williamsburg, the home of Steve’s alma mater, William and Mary School of Law. We walked around the Colonial Williamsburg grounds and had our picture taken in the stockade. 🙂 A quick dinner and we were back on the road.

Next up: Day 3 – sightseeing in D.C.
