Trip to Aberdeen

Yesterday we (Jim, Rose, Julie, Steve, Tom, Brianna, Sam, Erin, and I) made what is becoming an annual trip down to Aberdeen. We all enjoy the Storybook Land, Wylie Lake, and Thunder Road areas. The day almost washed out on us. The drive down was constant rain, and it continued in Aberdeen. So we walked around a few stores and found a picnic shelter. Well, the sun decided to come out and we had a blast. Storybook Land is always fun to visit and see childhood story characters. This year they had a few new things, the most noticeable is the visitor center, what a nice place!

Then it was off to the Aberdeen Aquatics Center. This is something everyone was waiting to enjoy. A couple years ago the city built a new outdoor center with olympic size pool, but also with two large water slides, an inner-tube slide, lazy river, child playground, zero depth entry, and much more. We all had a blast there for several hours. Even the old people hopped in the lazy river for a nice stroll in the water.

We stopped for some supper and then head to the race track… go cart racing. Julie, Sam, Brianna, Tom, Steve, and I went on the track the first time. The second race involved Steve, Sam, Brianna, Tom and Jim. Tom really took dad for an interesting ride. I will have pictures of that up in a few days. I hope everyone enjoyed their Saturday as much as we did!
