mmm…. donuts!

Last weekend Erin & I decided to make some homemade donuts. We made plenty for our co-workers, relatives, and others who stopped. Here’s our homemade donut recipe.

Set fryer for 350 degrees

3-1/3 cups flour
1 cup sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
½ tsp salt
½ tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp nutmeg
2 tbsp. shortening
2 eggs
¾ cup buttermilk

Roll dough to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut with donut cutter… fry donuts/holes turn when color is golden brown. Remove when both sides are golden brown.

In our latest batch, we added 2 tablespoons of vanilla syrup (the coffee flavoring syrup). Enjoy =-)
