Let's boogie

I like gadgets, but I also like simplicity. And I LOVE to doodle. Spare pieces of paper and the backs of junk mail envelopes are my canvas for writing my name over and over again, drawing hearts, shapes with shadows, squiggly lines and music symbols, anything and everything. Knowing this, Dave had the perfect gift waiting for me under the Christmas tree.

Erin's Boogie Board
The Boogie Board is a paperless LCD writing tablet. Write, draw, or doodle on the screen using the stylus. The image (or, say, your grocery list) stays as long as you want, and, when you’re ready, it’s erased with a push of a button. Presto!

It’s marketed as an environmentally friendly alternative to paper, but I just think it’s super fun! Plus (unlike a lot of gadgets) it has no cords, and you don’t need to charge it or connect it to a computer. Very simple and compact. The battery is supposed to be good for 50,000 erases…that’s a lot of doodling!

It reminds me of those writing boards I had when I was a kid; they came with a little red “pencil” and you could draw on it and then lift the screen to erase the image. Or the Magna-doodle. Or the Etch-a-Sketch (without the tapping and shaking).

It’s neat when you discover something new that reminds you of something you enjoyed long ago.

(I was not asked to write this review by the fine folks who created the Boogie Board.)
