Adventures in parenthood

Well, this marks the first real post we’ve done since Gabriel was born.  Both Erin and I feel just blessed to have Gabriel and the overwhelming support from friends and family.  Gabriel was born during a busy weekend in Jamestown, as the hospital welcomed 11 babies during that time.  Prior to Gabriel’s arrival the hospital welcomed seven girls, so the hospital staff were cheering for a boy.  Erin had a good pregnancy and did great during the delivery.

Parenthood has been what we expected, lots of love, less sleep, messy house, delayed chores, etc.  Gabriel and visits have kept us busy in the first five weeks.  We can tell that he is growing and figuring things out.  Gabriel and our cat, Nubs, get along very well.  Nubs keeps her distance at most times because Gabe moves unexpectedly.  Nubs wakes me up if Gabe is awake during the night.

We are all getting on a better sleeping pattern that only requires us to be up twice during the night.  Gabriel takes naps in his swing, bounce chair, sleeper, and even in the crib.  He’s done okay on car trips to Grand Forks to see great-grandma and others, and Devils Lake to see grandma Jean and great aunt Diane.

I hope that we can post some regular updates soon… including pictures.  Gabriel is a blessing to us, and we thank all of you for the support.
